There are so many physical and non-physical tools that can be used during self-healing or during energy work/meditative sessions with others. One of my go-to tools is Reiki, but I also use a few physical tools as well for a more complete healing.
When working on a Reiki or Guided Meditation client in a session, the tools that I use are a little different than tools I would use when setting up a ritual or a time for clarity for myself. I bring items that have a more intense effect, since I’m only with them for about an hour. The work is going to be more intense because I want to give a revitalization in my sessions. I’m diving deep into the history of another person’s lifetimes and helping to remove/transform energies that have been there usually most of their life.
My self-healing practice is my self-care practice. In the food that I eat, in the drinks I make for myself, in preparing for bed and when I start my day I am practicing self-healing. I use many tools, some different, some the same as when I’m performing a session, because self-healing is a part of almost everything I do. From herbal tea blends to Yoni Eggs to my strength-training workout to dance class… I might perform a self-healing ritual several times a day.
Crystal Sound Bowl
I use a crystal sound bowl in my private sessions and workshops. This instrument sends vibrations, or messages, to those around it, helping to re-tune their frequency. The crystal bowl that I have is set to “Heart Chakra” and is pink, which is a color that triggers your sense of sight to creating a stronger sense of universal love in your body. When I play the sound bowl in sessions, I hit it hard to bring clarity and to intensify the transformation of trauma, and old, unhealthy habits and body cells. I use this in-session more than for self-healing because when I sit for meditation I don’t like to move too much. Sometimes I hit my crystal bowl before I leave the house or after a ritual like my Weekly Reiki Ritual or after a personal Tarot reading.
Sound is a universal language. Sound can create or destroy because, even though sound is more energetic than physical, it is able to communicate with the physical, like our bodies. It also speaks to our minds and auric bodies.
I’ve only recently started to really incorporate crystals into my sessions and self-healing. For my sessions, I lay them on my client’s body and I hold them in my hands while I lead them into a meditation. Lately, I’ve been using Selenite for the body while I hold Citrine.
Selenite is an intense clearing crystal. It clears away energy and, working with the crown chakra, strengthens your bond with Spirit. I place it on my client’s solar plexus to create a channel to their core, clearing away all old energy around it. Citrine is a crystal relating to the solar plexus, the center of purpose and of physical creation. I hold Citrine to help me to tap into my purpose as a healer and leader and to help me with creating a guided meditation that works with the needs of my client. When working with a client that had a mental disability that made it hard for them to focus or relax, holding the Citrine, I led them through an active meditation that focused on out-loud affirmations.
For my personal rituals, I meditate with the crystal while channeling Reiki. By sending Reiki to the crystal, I’m receiving the Reiki that is being channeled and the intensified energy of the crystal. While going about my day, I might have a crystal in my pocket, my bag, my car or as jewelry that has properties I want to receive and/or exude.
Getting to know the properties of different herbs is so important for preventative care. What we feed ourselves shows up in all aspects of our life. Some of my most used herbs and medicine-foods are ginger, lavender, chamomile, rosemary, mugwort, damiana and hibiscus. I keep a couple of herbal blends, one for rest and one for the morning, in my kitchen and make them into a tea as often as possible.
Ginger- blood detoxifier and energy booster
Lavender- stress relief and anti-anxiety
Chamomile- stress-relief, skin health, sleep aid
Rosemary- anti-bacterial, anti-inflammation, improves memory, anti-fungal
Hibiscus- metabolism regulator, helps with high blood pressure and cholesterol
I use sacred item such as feathers, sage and mugwort smudge sticks, candles with certain essential oils, and more during both my client sessions and my self-healing rituals. In session I’ll place these items around my healing space and set a meditative prayer before every session, using the energy to charge the items as well as myself for extra protective and healing properties during our time. With sage and palo santos, I will also clear the space before the client arrives, setting my intention while smudging. For my own space, I like to smudge on a semi-regular basis and I also diffuse or heat certain oils or powders to help clear and reset intention.
Another great way to use sacred items for self-healing is through a spiritually cleansing bath. This bath will help cleanse and strengthen your auric (energetic) bodies, therefore strengthening your immune system and self-confidence.
Some ingredients for a spiritually cleansing bath:
- Florida Water
- Sea salt
- Epsom salt
- Crystals (such as rose quartz or clear quartz)
- Apple Cider Vinegar (For women- helps control our pH)
- Dried herbs or rose petals
- Essential oil (I like to use Vetiver for grounding)
- Sage the area
- Light white candles
- Make this a meditation time
Use: IN-SESSION/SELF-HEALING/ALL THE TIME
The power of touch is something I use very heavily in my daily life. Whether in a session, by myself, with friends or with those who I haven’t formally met yet, I take advantage of everything touch can do for us.
Our energies speak to each other whether we are near or far, whether we are fully aware of it or not. I am always connected to you, you are always connected to me. I know you, you know me. However, there are barriers that we place around ourselves for protection that hinder our awareness of our connection. When we touch one another in loving and appropriate ways we are letting down our barriers and making the conscious choice to connect to each other. The greatest illusion is separation. Once we transform the idea of separation into knowing that we are protected and unique while still being part of a collective, we free a large part of ourselves and begin to heal real scars.
A simple form of touch that has really helped me and others is hugging. Real hugs, not just a pat on the back. I like to give out hugs whenever I’m saying hi or bye to someone, whether I’ve known them long or not. I don’t give hugs to take in other people’s energy, or to remove their pain, I give hugs to show love, and by showing love, pain and energy is cleared and renewed.
